Gallery II - The Netherlands Series (2015)

In 2015 following my 7-week artist residency at Arte Studio Ginestrelle in the Province of Perugia, I flew to Rotterdam to visit friend and dance colleague Christopher Beck and his partner, Peter Drucker. Christopher and I had met in 1983 at San Francisco’s Centerspace dance venue during my participation in the solo dance event, “3 X 3” (I had performed my work, Suite Love Jones to music by Joan Armatrading). We hadn’t seen each other for many years thereafter until by chance we met again in 2006 on a 3-week Greek study tour led by my Pacifica Graduate Institute professor, Christine Downing. Our tour ended with Christopher and I dancing an improvisation atop the island mountain of Delos in the ancient sanctuary of Dionysus.
With permission, these photographs were taken of the class, Dance Improvisation for Seniors (50+), attended regularly by Christopher and led by Marie Louise Gilcher. The class is sponsored by Rotterdam Center for Arts Education (SKVR).
